Obamanation Debate Fact Check

Obama Claim: "I've consistently voted against special interest legislation."

Obama Fact: Barack Obama has accepted $1,593,352 in campaign contributions from trial lawyers and lobbyists. [1] Obama is number one in the country for accepting contributions from trial lawyers.

Also, Barack Obama has accepted millions of dollars in fat-cat special interest money, including $1,622,485 in campaign contributions from the finance, insurance and real estate sectors. [2]

Translation:
Barack Obama says he leans more toward the "little guy" than corporations and special interests. But Barack Obama isn't fooling anybody. He has been sucking up money from every fat cat industry and special interest group that wants access to the Federal Government - especially trial lawyers.

These are the same trial lawyers that have a vested interest in blocking meaningful tort reform and medical malpractice reform. The cost for medical insurance has been driving prices up and doctors out. Currently, there are no brain surgeons in Joliet - located in Will County, one of the fastest growing counties in the nation, let alone the state. There is a projected loss of 25 percent of OB/GYNs in the Chicago metro area if something isn't done. The really dangerous part is that there are no neurosurgeons south of Springfield - which means if there's an emergency, Illinois families will have to travel far to get help and there may not be enough time.

The list is long, and one thing's for sure - in Barack Obama's Illinois the "little guy" is all the way at the bottom.
