Obama Claim: "I have consistently supported programs that would improve the farm economy."

Obama: Job-Killing Tax Increaser
If Barack Obama had his way, taxes would go up for Americans of all incomes – automatically – including farmers. He has said he opposes making permanent the Bush tax cuts, which include the $1000-per-child tax credit, repeal of the estate tax (which hits particularly hard at family farms), relief from the marriage penalty, and creation of the 10-percent tax bracket for lower-income families. Moreover, Obama cast the deciding vote to raise income taxes this year on businesses in Illinois; he reinstated the Death Tax for farmers and small businesses; voted against an education tax credit of $500 per family; and raised vehicle registration fees and vehicle title fees. And he refuses to sign the Americans for Tax Reform Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

1. In May of 2004, Barack Obama cast the deciding vote for HB-848, Governor Blagojevich's $300 million business tax hike.
HB848, 93rd General Assembly, 5/20/04, Obama Vote: Yes.

2. In 2003, Barrack Obama voted "yes" on SB-1725 to reinstate the Illinois Death Tax by separating it out from the federal estate tax. The Federal Estate tax is slated to be phased out.
SB1725; Amends Illinois Estate & Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax Act; 93rd General Assembly, 3/27/03, Obama Vote: Yes.

3. In 1999, Barack Obama voted against SB-1075, an income tax credit for all full-time K-12 pupils in an amount equal to 25 percent of qualified education expenses up to a maximum of $500 per family.
SB1075; Amends Illinois Income Tax Act; 91st General Assembly, 3/25/99, Obama Vote: No.

4. In 1999, Barrack Obama voted for SB-1028, a bill that authorized a 63 percent increase in vehicle registration fees and a 400 percent increase in vehicle title fees.
SB1028; Vehicle CD-Registration-Fees Increase; 91st General Assembly, 5/21/99, Obama Vote: Yes.
