It is incredibly exciting to see all these ideas going forward. Although we have little time, I believe we have sufficient time to make these ideas an overwhelming success.
Here's where I am at, for my part:
I have purchased materials (colored paper and large envelopes) to produce at least 300 sign-making kits for Monday's Christian Liberty Academy rally. All someone with a kit will have to do is purchase a 40"x30" foam board ($5.99 at Office Max) and tape the letters I provide to the board.
I also purchased twelve 40"x30" boards and plan on giving away 12 complete signs to twelve people who are dedicated to putting them to maximum use.
I am laying out the letters for my kit in a single WordPerfect document, which I will make available to the Keyes website as soon as possible. This will allow any website user throughout the state to easily produce the letters to make a sign. (People outside the Chicago area may have to edit the TV station given.) I recommend either colored paper or colored letters to liven up the sign.
To those who are capable of doing so, please consider doing one or more of the following:
Bring one or more blank 40"x30" boards to the Christian Liberty Academy rally to give away so that someone can combine your board with my kit for a complete sign.
Make up one or more of your own sign-kits, using the WordPerfect document I will be supplying to the website, for distribution to others. (My hope is to have at least 1000 people with signs on the streets between NOW and Thursday of next week.)
Bring one or more complete signs to give away at the Christian Liberty Academy rally or at any other event you attend over the next several days.
Bring ridgid cardboard, cut 26"x16", or very slightly smaller, to give to people so they can put them in Keyes yard signs and wear them while they hold their debate-promotion signs. Or, do the complete assembly of wearable signs in advance. (I will be bringing a lot of attractive sign-holding straps made from blue duct tape to give away.)
I am also working on a "newsletter" to include in my sign-making kits. The newsletter will be titled "Living Signs: Putting a face -- your face -- on the Keyes campaign," and will give useful information and a motivating perspective on what we are doing. (Actually, with so much great stuff going forward on the website, my newsletter probably doesn't have to be nearly as large as I originally planned.)
To be responsible, I must mention that I am extremely pressed for time. I will try to do what I can with my kits, but I doubt I will be able to get much done until at least Sunday.
It would give me much greater confidence that I can accomplish all I have described above by Monday, if someone would volunteer to help me. I, personally, need to produce the WordPerfect document with sign letters and the text for my newsletter. I should probably personally print out the letters on my colored paper, to make sure the color pattern is what I want. After that, I could truly use help in cutting up the letters and assembling the kits, and in laying out and printing my newsletter.
If anyone has a bunch of boards and needs letters to assemble signs before the Christian Liberty Academy rally, please let me know. If you have completed signs before the rally, please do a little advance work in the area of Christian Liberty Academy I think it will make quite an impression as people arrive for the rally.
Thanks, for the exciting new developments.
Many thanks to all who are planning to participate.
Keep fighting hard.
